School Transport

The offer of a place at any particular school does not automatically guarantee the provision of travel assistance. If parents intend to apply for Home to School Travel Assistance for their child, they are advised to read the Council’s Home to School Transport policy before applying. North Northamptonshire Council supports the right of parents to express preferences for schools.

However, in order to be eligible for free home to school travel assistance, (subject to meeting the other eligibility criteria) the child or young person must be attending their nearest suitable school which has places available, or the special school named in the child’s Education Health and Care Plan if they have one. Where a parent has opted for their child to attend a school or special school that is not their named or nearest suitable provision with places, it is likely that transport will not be provided.

There is no automatic entitlement to assistance with travel between home and school. Parents requiring home to school transport or other travel assistance will need to make an application to their Local Authority. Each application will be assessed on its own merits against the published policy. For further information about Home to School transport, including details of who might be eligible, you should read the Home to School Transport Policy relevant to the area in which you live. Families resident in North Northamptonshire should use this link.

Students living in Woodford, Ringstead, Hargrave and Thrapston are entitled to Mainstream Education Transport and are issued with free bus passes stating their allocated route from Northamptonshire County Council. The passes are issued to the school and can be collected from Manor School Student Reception (if a replacement is required a charge of £25 is made by NCC). For all queries regarding this transport please contact Northamptonshire County Council.

Please note this only applies to students in Years 7 to 11. At post-16, a fee for the school bus is payable. The 16-19 bursary is available for students who require financial support.

Catering and School Shop

The Dining Hall operates a cashless payment system which means there is no facility to pay for school meals with cash. Parents/carers can make online payments to their child’s cashless catering account using the Arbor parent portal/app.

Once you log in you will be able to top up your child’s account and view their account balance. Students who are registered for Free School Meals will have the value of the meal automatically added to their account each day.

You can also use Arbor to pay for school trips, music tuition and stationery. It is our aim to become a completely cashless school and we hope that you will help us to achieve this goal which we believe will benefit the whole of our school community.

If you are experiencing difficulty using the system, please see Arbor's help section. If that does not answer your question then please contact the Finance Department on 01933 623921 or via email at .

School Shop

The school shop is run from our Learning Resource Centre (LRC). The LRC is open daily from 8:30am until 4:30pm. Students can visit the LRC to loan fiction or non-fiction books, study or use the computer facilities. Essential stationery such as our Be Ready Bags can be purchased via Arbor and then collected from the LRC.

School Trips & Visits

Arbor is also used to pay for trips and visits that students might particpate in. Details of trips and visits can be found on the 'Enrichment' page of our website.

Catering

A selection of hot and cold food is available daily from the school's canteen for Years 7-10 and the Restaurant for Years 11-13. The menu can be found below.

Enrichment

We run a full programme of lunchtime and after school clubs from sporting and musical activities to STEM and scholarly studies. Although extra-curricular activities are optional, we strongly encourage all students to enrich their school day with an additional interest and we are always open to ideas about new clubs from students.

Learning outside the classroom plays an important role in the education of well rounded students. Each year students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of trips and visit. Students visit local attractions and heritage sites and proudly participate in community events representing their school. Beyond our local area students visit theatres, sporting venues, national events, and internationally students have the opportunities to join language visits, sports tours, music and dance tours and cultural exchanges.

Enrichment activities

The 2024-25 Term 5 timetable can be found below. Please note that clubs may not run each week due to staff meetings etc - for the most up to date timetable, please see our weekly newsletter. Please also look out for notices on our social media pages of any last-minute cancellations.

Each time a student attends one of these clubs, the teacher will log an enrichment point for attendance at a club. If a student attends a catch up/homework session for voluntary additional learning, they will receive an enrichment point for additional learning. It should be noted that enrichment points will not be logged if they are required to attend the catch up/homework sessions because they haven’t used their learning time during lesson effectively, or not completed their homework, and have been requested to come by the teacher.
