Dress Code

Post-16 students are expected to come to school in smart, professional clothing and footwear. Clothing should be appropriate for a working day at school and to a standard which would be acceptable in a business environment. Outdoor clothing is not permitted inside school buildings.

Permitted

  • Smart trousers (no bright colours, denim, jeans or jean style, jogging bottoms, leggings, sportswear or shorts)
  • Dresses and skirts – knee length or just above (no denim)
  • Shirt, blouse or polo shirt with a collar (small logos on the chest of the top are acceptable, however large logos are not)
  • Smart jumper/cardigan (plain colours only)
  • Smart shoes or boots with a sensible heel – leather, leather effect or smart canvas (black leather-look trainers with a discrete black logo are acceptable)
  • Blazers/suit jackets/ties – may be worn but are not compulsory
  • Jewellery must be discrete (no facial piercings)
  • Make-up and hair must be discrete and natural colours only

Not permitted

  • Sportswear such as jogging bottoms (except during PE lessons)
  • Hooded tops
  • Shorts
  • Casual t-shirts, cropped tops or vests (with or without logos)
  • Inappropriate slogans
  • Baseball caps or hats
  • Denim (including jeans, denim jackets or denim shirts)
  • Leggings
  • Beachwear
  • Trainers, Ugg style boots or flip flops

Manor School Sports College reserves the right to decide what clothing is considered appropriate. In the first instance, students will be advised if clothing is inappropriate. Should they need be continually reminded they will be sent home to change. If students or parents/carers require clarification please see Mr Nick Royle, Head of Years 12 & 13.
