COVID Track and Trace

Parents/carers should continue to notify us during the summer holidays of any students who test positive for COVID-19. This is done via the banner on the school website. Once notified you should continue to follow all the latest government guidance and advice including instructions for self-isolation. We will complete contact tracing between students and staff as necessary where either:

• the student or member of staff tests positive for COVID-19 on a lateral flow or PCR test, without symptoms, before the end of Sunday 18 July
• the student or member of staff develops symptoms before the end of Sunday 18 July and then goes on to receive a positive result on a lateral flow or PCR test

Summer results days

Students in Year 11 and 13 will be awarded their results following the Centre Assessed Grades process on Tuesday 10 August for Year 13 and Thursday 12 August for Year 11. We will send a communication to students and parents the week prior to results days to outline the timings and arrangements of each day. Please look out for this communication via schoolcomms, student emails and our social media platforms.

For students who have booked holidays or will not be available to collect results, please select one of the following options and notify us of your intention by email to exams2021@manor.school

1. The student can nominate another person to collect results on their behalf. We need an email stating the name and relationship of the person to exams2021@manor.school and the person collecting results needs to being a piece of photo ID and a signed copy of the email or written statement from the student providing consent.
2. Results can be posted to a nominated address. For this to happen the student needs to being a signed statement stating that they are happy for this to happen, along with a self-addressed and stamped A5 envelope. Results will be sealed in the envelope and posted on the day of results being issued.
3. Results can be collected on another day following the issuing of results. Please email exams2021@manor.school to arrange a mutually convenient time.

September testing

The Department for Education is requesting schools to Lateral Flow test all students twice upon their return to school in September. This process will be very similar to the testing that was carried out in school prior to students returning from the second lockdown on 8 March 2021.

Please complete the consent form below to give permission, or not, for your child or children to taking the tests on site.

The information below sets out the timings for the first on-site test:

• Thursday 2 September, 12:00pm - Year 12 and Year 13
• Friday 3 September, 8:30am - Year 7
• Friday 3 September, 9:45am - Year 8
• Friday 3 September, 11:00am - Year 9
• Friday 3 September, 12:15pm - Year 10
• Friday 3 September, 2:15pm - Year 11

Those students who travel to school on the buses and are unable to make the time listed above will have their first test when they arrive at school for their first day. These students should go directly to the main hall upon arrival to school.

Families with children in different year groups are permitted to bring all their children in at the same time. If you are on holiday or are not in the area on the dates above, your child or children will be picked up from Monday 6 September, depending on the day of their return to school

Students will receive their second Lateral Flow test on their first full day at school in September.

A staggered start will help to ensure we can carry our the second of two lateral flow tests.

Staggered return to school dates

• Thursday 2 September – Training Day
• Friday 3 September – Training Day
• Monday 6 September – Years 7, 8 and 13 return
• Tuesday 7 September – Years 10 and 11 return
• Wednesday 8 September – Years 9 and 12 return (all students in school)

The school day commences at 8:35am. Students should be on the school site prior to the start of the day.

Entrances to the school site in September

From September, students will be able to access the school site from 8:20am using the gate near the technology block next to the bus bay. Students arriving by bus must use this gate. The gate next to the main entrance will also be opened for students travelling on foot or being dropped off. Both gates will be opened prior to the end of school for students to exit.

Please note, from September the Park Street gate will not be open for students as it used to be.

School uniform

As you are aware, we are introducing a new uniform from September. We are conscious of the considerable costs to families and therefore will be phasing in the new uniform from September.

All students will be given the new Manor School tie before they leave for the end of this academic year. If your child or children have not received their tie because they were self-isolating or absent from school, they can collect one from Manor School main reception between 10:00am-11:00am Monday to Friday throughout the summer break.

All Year 7 students in the 2021-2022 academic year will be expected to wear the new Manor School uniform. Students in Year 8-11 in the 2021-2022 academic year are permitted to wear the old uniform until the old uniform needs to be replaced, at which point we request that parents/carers purchase the new uniform. The old uniform has now been discontinued with our uniform suppliers.

We do accept that students in Year 8 to Year 11 in the 2021-2022 academic year may well be in a mix of the old uniform and the new one i.e. black blazer with Manor School badge (legacy uniform) and grey trousers (new uniform) etc. The same applies to PE kit.

Families will no longer be expected to replace the old Manor School badge on the black blazer with a new Manor School badge.

Whilst we are in the transitional phase of moving from the old to the new branding of uniform, there will inevitably be some in-year admissions that require the old-style blazers to avoid a new student appearing different to their peers. If you are happy to donate an old-style blazer to a happy home, please can it be stored in a sealed bag and handed in at main reception. If reception is unmanned at any point when you arrive, please leave the parcel by the main reception door with a note on top saying ‘uniform’. We will launder before redistributing.
