Tackling prejudice and discrimination in society
The education unit of Hope Not Hate delivered presentations to all Year 7-11 students on Wednesday 16 January on the topic of harmful language.
Hope Not Hate are a charitable trust who work in communities to tackle prejudice and discrimination in society. Their education unit aim to educate students on racism, as well as being a catalyst towards positive behavioural change in schools, which can act as a springboard towards a more inclusive society. It enables students to have a holistic understanding of how discrimination works and to challenge them on how they can play a role in breaking it.
It is the first of two visits to Manor School in which the charity are talking to students about understanding discrimination and tackling harmful language. Staff are also participating in workshops on how the school can make changes to build a more inclusive atmosphere.
