New multi-sports facility opened
Manor School opened its new new multi-sports outdoor facility on Wednesday 8 May.
Part-funded by East Northamptonshire Council, the facility was designed and constructed by specialists Notts Sport, with the perimeter fencing installed by B&L Fencing Services. The facility can be split into three tennis courts, two netball courts or a hockey training pitch.
The facility was opened by the Leader of East Northamptonshire Council Cllr Steven North and Deputy Mayor of Raunds Cllr Lee Wilkes. Also in attendance at the opening ceremony were Manor School Principal Jay Davenport, CEO of the Nene Education Trust Chris Hill along with other members of staff and local councillors. Following the cutting of the ribbon, students from the school’s KS4 hockey club took to the pitch to show off their skills and put the surface to the test.
As well as enriching the learning of Manor School students, the facility is also available to hire by the community through Manor Sports and Leisure who are based on the school site. Northamptonshire Sport have already helped fund a new hockey 14+ satellite club in association with Kettering Hockey Club.
Teams, groups and individuals can hire the multi-sports pitch as well as other facilities by phoning Manor Sports and Leisure on 01933 461459 who are open throughout the day and weekends.
